Job description
The respiratory therapist participates in the evaluation of cardiorespiratory function and intervenes in all emergencies. They often perform arterial blood gas diagnostic tests. They assist in anesthesia during surgery to monitor vital functions and ensure proper equipment functioning. Respiratory therapists treat problems affecting the cardiorespiratory system. They may also work as part of a care team outside an institution, such as a CLSC or nursing home, to provide home follow-up care and respiratory rehabilitation.
Requirements
- Experience in a hospital environment is an asset;
- College diploma (DEC) in respiratory therapy;
- Member of the Ordre des inhalothérapeutes du Québec.
